Creation of Double Page Spread

CREATION OF MY DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

Here you can see that I have continued to use the theme of a banner for my title as I did on my contentn .n cpage. I have inserted a banner along the bottom in pink and included a magazine website. There are 2 bubbles in either corner to show the page number and there is a wrecking ball coming in from the right hand side to symbolise who the articl. Tis about this is in green some e  a black chain and white writing inside. The background is a lilac colour. Next you can see that I have inserted "Rae" in between the main subjects name, as her whole name is Miley Rae Cyrus.
Here you can see that I have begun to input text below the main title, it is an introduction to the article that will be below. I have also added in some boxes outlined in blue that I know where I will be putting the main body of t
he article. I have also changed the font of the numbers in the bottom corners of the page.

Here you can see I have removed the boxes and added some text which is the beginning of the article.

I have changed the article that I have put in and changed the colour and type of font. I have also included blocks to make the text stand out easier.

Next you can see that I have introduced a starburst behind the wrecking ball and a block to engage the audience further beneath that. I changed the font on the article to make it stand out more and I changed some of the colours to make it easier to read.

After that i finished the first section of the article by adding in another line which completed the question and answer section.

In these next photos you can clearly see that I have put in a large blue box, an image and small pink box. The blue box contains the remainder of the article with a single question from the 'Editor' to the artist then there is a message to the readers from the editor. I have also made a design in pink to go over the part that says "Our Turn" to make it look better. The image is of a young teenage artist singing. It is a block image with a black background.

Here you can see my final double page spread before my review. As you can see I have spaced the text evenly and made the 'pink box' white so that it stands out easier. I have also made some of the text bigger to help this.

After I recieved my review I needed to tone down the colours so they were pastels tomatch the rest of my magazine. I added two small images to the banner at the bottom of the page so it would link nicer to the target audience of young teenagers. Next you can see I have made small bubbles encircling the names, this was to link with the contents page. I am not  hapoy with my choise of colours so I will change this next time. Finally, I have inversed the colours on the wrecking ball so that the main colour is pink. I did this to make it appear more girly than before so it links better with my target audience.

I decided to remove the bubbles from surrounding the names and I have used small rectangles instead, this is still linking with the contents page but it is mu h more obvious now. I also changed the font of the names so that they were easier to read.

I made the purple banner stretch out horizontally across the top of the two pages and I have embossed the words 'MILEY CYRUS' this was to help it stand out. I have also added in a drop quote from the question and answer sectionin purple and white so it stands out. I wanted to change the font of the main article and I editted the contents of the introduction so that it sounded a lot better and it is now easier to understand. I removed the words 'our turn' from the right hand page because I was unsure whether it was neccessary.

In these images you can see that I have input bubbles surrounding the image in order to help it to blend in easier with the page as it is quite dark. I think this looks really good. Finally I have added a starburst to the bottom right hand corner to entice people to check online for a quiz. The starburst is purple and stands out from the blue background well.

On my final edit of my double page spread I added in the words 'question time' where it used to say'our turn'. This is a clear link to the contents page as this is what the page is labelled in the table of contents. I have outlined the wrecking ball in black to make it look more striking and help it stand out so that people can see the text inside the wrecking ball quicker. The final thing that iI did was input some pink embossed question marks just to reassure the fact that these were questions asked by the public and also to show the main theme of that page.

Evaluation- Question 1

Creation of Contents Page

I have decided to carry on the idea of a multi-coloured banner to put the title on. I have done this because it is eye catching and gives the magazine a theme. Also, I have decided to name the page "contents" because it is straight to the point much like the name of the magazine. I have also included a small phrase that says "whats in your mag". This includes colloquial language that I think will be easy for the readers to understand and relate to.
In this image you can see that I have kept the banner the same, but I have begun to include the circles for the page numbers to go into. I decided that I wanted these colours because they stand out and they have a ring around the edge that goes with the opposing colour. This I think helps them to stand out. I have also staggered them because I thought I only needed a few pages and I thought it would look really effective.
Here I have started to add in the numbers. As you can see nothing else has been changed because at this point I was still happy with the arrangement.
In this next image you can see that I have attempted to include an "Editors Letter" I put it at this angle because I thought that by making it look like a real letter it would be more effective. However I was clearly wrong about this. I also changed the layout of the numbers, I reduced the amount of 'bubbles' for the numbers to go in and put them in a diagonal line towards the bottom left of the page. I have placed yellow blocks next to each number to introduce a place for text to be inserted later.
Here you can see that I have alternated the colours of the blocks to make each one stand out from the rest. You can also see that I have increased the amount of numbers there are and added in all of the pieces of text. I have changed the position of the 'letter' and made the background of it green. I will need to change the font size or cut it down slightly as it goes over the edge of the green background slightly.

Here you can see that I have changed the font of 'letter' and made it shorter so that it all fits. I have also included a name at the bottom to make it more personal for the readers. Finally, I have introduced an image of an artist singing. However the background does not match so this will need to be changed.
I found it quite difficult to make the colours match so I made the images background black and I think this looks much more effective this way.
Here you can see my final piece before my review hardly anything has changed from previously, but I did change the font size of the 'editors letter'. I made it bigger. I did this because at the size of font it was before it would have been hard to read. Although the 'signature' at the bottom of the letter goes down onto the main image I still think it looks effective.

After my review I was told that the colours of my magazine are too bright and that I should include more images. So I made each of the colours a lot lighter so now the colour scheme is of pastel colours rather than really bright. I was also told that the editors letter is too large, so as you can see I have moved it down to the bottom of the page and inverted the colour scheme of it. I made the background for it with and almost transparent and then I made the writing on it darker so that it stood out better and was a lot easier to read than before. I haven't changed the layout, but I have changed the font size to smaller so that I could fit in more captions.
From the previous image to this one I have removed the larger image and moved the editors letter down towards the bottom right hand corner of the page. The editor's letter is smaller but contains the same words, but it looks a lot neater than before. It is positioned over a translucent purple box which allows the pink font colour to stand out well. Next, I added in lots of small rectangular bars to use as a background for the contents, I used alternating colours but I made sure that you could always read the text by inputting a long rectangular see-through box so that the colours of the strips weren't to bright. I imported a new picture, a close-up of a young womans face. I did this because although she isn't singing people will recognise her as an artist.

From previously I have only added twomore images and a starburst. Along with captions to help link the pictures to the pages they will be reading on the magazine. The starburst is bright so that it sticks out and is easily seen and it includes a pull quote to entice people to read on to the double page spread.
