Research-Part 2

On the Vanity Fair magazine, they have used the famous singer/songwriter Lady Gaga as their cover image. They have used the rule of thirds correctly making her the focal point of the image as her body is a straight line going along the second horizontal third. Also, the use of diagonal lines helps to make Lady Gaga stand out as her body is positioned in such a way that it creates strange lines linking over each other. Although her whole central body is a focal point, her face is more of a focus as her chin is just above the junction of the third lines, also she is looking directly at the camera allowing for our natural recognition to occur drawing our eyes to hers automatically. Other things that make Gaga stand out is the colours and and the lighting. Her clothing is very dark and contrasts to her face, and the lighting is clearly positioned above her, making her face and body very clear. The camera angle is very low, giving the reader the idea of Lady Gaga having power over the audience as she is looking down on them.
